The Kaloob Foundation, Inc. is delighted to express heartfelt gratitude for the successful renovation activities that took place at the two chapels: GKK San Miguel Upper Kiagot and GKK San Miguel Maguise. This remarkable project was a result of the collective effort, support, and coordination of many individuals and organizations. Key players included the Divine Mercy Parish, local sponsors, and the dedicated Five French Scouts: Matthieu Balme, Clémentine Rubino, Victorien Bouvet, Manon Poulin, and Siméon Tesniere. We are also grateful to Assumptionist Brothers Jean-Thomas de la Roche Saint-André, Fr. Cristopher Quinal, AA, and Br. Mark Vincent Madronero AA, the Kaloob Director, who oversaw the activities.
*****Objectives Behind the Renovation*****
The chapel renovation initiative was driven by three main objectives:
1. Improvement of Chapel Conditions: The foremost aim was to enhance the physical environment of our chapels, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming, and conducive to worship for our community.
2. Cultural Exchange for the French Scouts: Another significant purpose was to provide the French Scouts with an opportunity to discover the beauty of our country and experience the richness of our local culture by living alongside the community. This cultural immersion serves to strengthen bonds and foster mutual understanding.
3. Cultural Exposure for Locals: Lastly, the project aimed to introduce local communities to French culture, enriching the community’s experiences and allowing for a fruitful exchange of traditions and values.
*****Journey to Implementation*****
The journey that led to these renovations began last year, in 2023, culminating in the implementation phase from August 2 to August 23, 2024, in Digos City. The planning involved meticulous coordination, ensuring that both local and visiting participants could engage in the process meaningfully.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the foster families who warmly welcomed the French scouts, especially the Cariquitan and Verano families. Their hospitality and support were vital to the success of this initiative.
*****The Celebration of Community Spirit*****
The entire activity kicked off with a Mass celebration, presided over by DMP Parish Priest, Fr. Jay Hector Lituanas, AA Assomption Jlits. His spiritual leadership set a positive and nurturing tone for the renovation activities ahead.
During the first two weeks, the primary focus was on transforming the roof of GKK San Miguel Kiagot into a waterproof structure. Local community members generously extended their hands to assist in the renovations. A special acknowledgment goes to Johnnex Sarguilla, Fely Padillo Padillo, and the families of Jun and Meraflor Inday Labs Cariquitan and family, Jayfrannie Bonjek Guillen and Camillekids Guillen, for sharing their time, talents, and resources with our visitors.
